Design cleaner products

If you’re a manufacturer based in the North East of England, Envirowise can help you design your products so that they’re more environmentally friendly, throughout their lifecycle.

Could you do more to make your products environmentally friendly? Questions to ask include the following:

  • To what extent can we use recycled materials?
  • What would it take to manufacture with fewer resources?
  • How could we make it easier to recycle products at the end of their lifecycle?

Clean design is about ‘designing out’ waste and ‘designing in’ benefits to the environment. Cleaner design can help save you money and give your product an additional Unique Selling Point.

For support, try starting with Envirowise.  There are several ways they can help:

  • A DesignTrack visit will look at your product and process. It can also cover packaging and other ways to reduce waste. You can arrange a visit via the cleaner design area of the Envirowise website
  • Free guides, case studies and tools are downloadable from the website www.envirowise.gov.uk.
  • Expert help and advice is available through the Environment and Energy Helpline on 0800 585794.
