Top Tips for SMEs to help improve thier Environmental Performance

The Environment Agency has just launched its biennial NetRegs SME-nvironment report on small UK businesses' awareness and activity.  The report identifies a major disconnect between SMEs' understanding and the reality of their environmental impact; although SME energy efficiency improvements have doubled in just two years, over a third still don't recognise fundamental green regulations relevant to their business (fewer than in 2007).  Only 7% of SMEs think they harm the environment, but 46% actually do. Significantly only 1 in 5 will invest in improving their green efforts in the next year.

The Environment Agency are keen to engage with small businesses in the UK to raise further environmental awareness.
